This is awesome, thanks for setting it up Jon! Looking forward to learning from the conversations here and getting a little inspiration to improve my game.
Welcome, Mike! Happy to have you here, come join in
āHi, Iām a hockey player, but Iām playing golf todayā - Happy Gilmore.
That was the level of my involvement in golf for much of my life. It was fun to go to the range with my dad, but I struggled with the mental aspect of playing a round (and I didnāt really practice it). Played hockey through college and golf was just a recreational thing with teammates.
Then I graduated and moved to New Orleans, LA. A wonderful city, but one that has a certain lack of ice rinks (shocker). After a year of sitting around pining for the rink, I got the clubs out and have been pushing myself for about 18 months to improve as a golfer and scratch that competitive itch! So far Iāve managed to topple 100 and 90; next in my sights are 80 and a single digit index!
Outside of the golfing sphere, Iām a HS Physics teacher. A job which certainly has its benefits for someone who has picked up golf (hello weekday rounds in the summer!); but also a job that I absolutely love.
I also have a wonderful spouse and together we have three cats, each named after a hockey player!
What an idea for this forum. Excited to be a part of it! Thanks Jon!
Welcome! Iāve known a lot of teachers who are golfers, the two tend to go together really well!
Itās great to see another golf forum. I am looking forward to reading and participating in discussions with many of my fellow golf enthusiasts.
thanks for joining! I think youāll see we have a pretty solid, positive community within only a week of its existence
Great site! Happy to be part of this community!
thank you, welcome to the party!
First year golfer excited to learn some things, thanks, folks!
Welcome to the game and the forum! Stick with both because theyāll be good.
welcome to the community, I think youāll learn a lot here!
Just what I need! Iāve been bitten by the golf bug bad! Donāt personally know a lot of golfers, let alone senior woman beginners, personal chats limited by the covid-19 thing. Glad to interact here!
glad to have you here!
From what Iāve encountered, Senior Women tend to have the most fun on the golf courseā¦ just need to find the right group! My club has a nine hole ladies group and an 18 hole ladies groupā¦ The 9 hole ladies are a ton of fun. They still take things seriously, but enjoy themselves while doing it! My personal favorite is Colleen, whoās a retired school teacher. She has some stories, but is also overall just a great lady.
I think golf is vastly improved when you find people to share it with. Enjoy your time here, but make sure you are having fun on the course!
Always! a bad day on the golf course is better than a day cooped up in the house! Playing solo till the virus isnāt a thing anymore, except playing with relatives & separate carts.
Cory, love the backstory! And you absolutely should start putting stuff out! Donāt think just do! Golf needs so much more said about the intangible side of the game. It should be worked on just as hard as any physical part. So the more awareness there is around it the better. Get to it Cory!
Awesome work Jon! Thanks for creating this! Itās great to have a golf community built on positivity.
Thanks! I think weāre on to something here
Thanks and welcome! Glad to have you in the forum.
Looking forward to all the conversations!
