welcome, thanks for being here!
Knowing this is something thatās been on your mind for some time, it is really great to see the forum come alive Jon.
Looking forward to hanging out here buddy.
yeaaaaa buddy - great to have you on here! Welcome
took me a bit to get here. figured this conference call was the best time to get it sorted
lol, I wonder how much āwork timeā is currently being wasted on here right now
I should have done this first, instead of jumping in a few threads, but I can correct that new. I found this through a Twitter post, donāt have any history with Practical Golf, but Iāll certainly take the time to go through at least some of the content over the next few days and weeks. So far it seems like a great crowd of golfers, at least a few of whom I recognize from other sites (which shall remain nameless). Many thanks to the owners and hosts here, the only thing better than talking about golf is actually playing golf.
Welcome, Dave! While I am a frequent Twitter user, Iām hoping to have a more specific community here that is built around the topics of the site (which youāll find out more about if you read some articles ). So far itās off to a great start and everyone is being helpful to one another.
LOL. clearly enough time that I just realized I was late for another call.
Hi, newbie here. Look forward to participating and hope it leads to lower scores
Regards
Marc
Welcome Marc! Thanks for joining
Excited to join. I have your site as a favorites on my iPad and read articles all the time. Youāve helped get my game from 18 handicap to as low as 10 this last year and a half. Excited to hop in and participate.
Iāve had some success with trying to not make a big deal about the actual swing. If I take a couple of practice swings and it feels good, I try to just walk up and hit the ball. The longer I stand over it, the more I lose the feel from the practice swings.
The other thought that has worked for me is to think of swinging through the ball, not hitting the ball. Makes the swing feel more like a practice swing without a ballā¦ and the ball just happens to get in the way.
However, I canāt say that Iāve been doing this lately. I worked out some things on the range that Iāve taken to the course to help me make sure my alignment is good, that my grip is helping square the face, etc. Itās a lot to think about and will probably stop working for me at some point, but for now Iāll stick with what works!
The last thought I always try to remember isā¦ swing at 85% or 90%. (This is probably something I picked up from our host, Jon.) No matter how perfectly I try to make my practice swings, Iām sure I try to put more into it when I know Iāll be hitting a ball, and Iām sure that makes the result a lot worse! Reminding myself to swing below 100% helps me loosen up and swing more naturally and with less tension.
Wow thatās awesome! Glad I could be a small part of that big drop. Welcome
Pretty slick forum! Although I just realized Iāve been replying to the last post instead of the main thread.
On positivity, this is honestly something that drew me to golf in the first place. I donāt see booing in golf. Instead, golfers respect when their opponents are playing well and can even celebrate their successes. Even though we can compete against each other, the real competition is player vs. course and player vs. themself!
Thanks for the forum, Jon!
Welcome! Thanks for joining in
Hey Everyone, Colin here golfed as a kid and didnāt get back into really until this past year. Iāve been listening to a ton of golf podcasts and got to play more this summer. Hope to continue to get better and push myself.
My swing thought these days is āsoft armsā as a simple reminder to keep it loose and swinging smooth.
thanks Jonā¦ appreciate you doing this
Miker
Youāre welcome, Mike - thanks for being here!
Saw doctor yesterday and itās a small tear in my cartilageā¦ no surgery requires. Getting an epidural for the painā¦ should be golfing in a few weeks, but will he pitching and putting as soon as I have the epidural in!
