Write about your Round

Finally connected with driver… sadly, it was a 4.5 hour round of waiting in the heat… my focus was not good.

Failed to get up and down multiple times.

Mostly, I just wasn’t present for the round. No warm up and poor focus.

85 with 2 doubles and a triple… yikes.

Starting playing again after a strained intercostal muscle and a dvt in my right calf. Par is 70. First round back 109 with 41 putts then 100 with 35 putts and 96 with 39 putts so absolute crap. Then yesterday 84 with 32 putts. 6 pars and 2 birdies. 2 bad drives and they both came after a birdie. Hit 5 gir and had 7 one putts. Hitting baby fades with the driver and drawing my irons. Had 150m to the pin on the par3 4th and drew a 5i to pin high 2ft left of the pin. No guarantee my next round will be as good but at least I now know I can.

That is the worst feeling in golf. I feel like it happens once a year, that the club just feels completely foreign in your hands.

I’ve attacked it both ways you described, just trust you know how to play and you’ll be back in no time

No chip ins though…

Sorted things out in a garage sweat-fest today. Issue was easy to fix once I figured what I was doing - swinging out of my shoes. That’s generally my issue when things go sideways, but by the time I can figure out the anger sharks are swimming mid-round and it’s hard to dial it in. Below was 7 iron focusing on swinging smooth and making good contact. Nice to see after probably my worst ball-striking round in a few years on Thursday night. Playing tomorrow morning, so hopefully all goes well.

I actually sorta don’t want to hear about Jon Rahm’s round today…

No but a pitch did finish on the edge so nearly. My last chip in was 13 rounds ago.

Played a qualifier on Tuesday at Garden City Country Club. Haven’t played it before so was going off a photo tour online and google maps. 19 and ties made it to play the Ike at the Bridge.

First hole runs along a railway line and my goal going in was to only hit one shot off the first. Split the fairway, so that was nice. After that I had a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde day. I hit a lot of good shots. 12 GIRs. 3 of the 5 times I had an iron from a tee I hit the big ball before the small ball. That was frustrating and I’ll have to figure that out. Made one birdie and four bogeys to be +3 standing on 18 tee. Good drive left me 141. That’s a fraction far for my 9 iron but there was a little helping breeze so I didn’t want to hit 8. I decided a solid 9 might leave me 15 feet short but I could live with that. Then I hit it 155. Mind blown. Yipped my chip back onto the green and left myself 15 feet away. Holed it to wind up T17 and through to the tournament.

Nice little aside. This also gets me into the Met Mid Am, which is at friars head this year. So excited!

Also I played with a 16 year old. He’d never seen the course either. He hit one shot that didn’t make me think “whoa this kid can play”. He duffed a chip on 15 and made double. Shot the easiest 68. It was very impressive.

I can so relate to this! Was shooting yesterday at par first 6 holes. Hit a solid drive on the 7th ( par 5), and I get to my ball with 200 yards to the green, grabbed my 3 wood, and standing over the ball, my brain literally short-circuited.

I can’t explain it better than I had no idea what to do next. Freaked me out!

Put the wood back and grabbed my 4 hybrid.
Mentally went back to “posture, grip, ball position, breathe, slow the takeaway, back to target and fire the hips”.

Everything was fine after that but it was so weird.

I have been out of the loop doing kids stuff

We are surrendering this society to the cry babies

Wait, who is the cry baby in the Rahm situation?

It is all performance theatre

Obey and comply

The risks and consequences of not getting vaccinated were clear. He stupidly rolled the dice and lost. If they were making people who have been vaccinated go through all this, I’d agree that is worthless performance. But that’s not what happened here.

They are grown men. If you are scared of getting sick stay home and dont play the tour

Today I obeyed and complied while playing with my father-in-law by agreeing to walk 18. What a horrible decision. I can’t believe people do this willingly. It’s not high school or college competitive golf. I’m not playing in the US Am or the Masters. It’s Sunday with a couple dudes I’ve never met before (nice guys!). I slept like crap last night. I just want to enjoy a casual round. If I wanted to go for a hilly 6 mile walk I’d be hiking right now. Not playing golf. Just let me plant my butt in a motorized vehicle and listen to Hall and Oates between shots.

Blech. I shot 75. I was even through 15 and went double-birdie-double to finish because my soul left my body on the 15th green. My wife asked what I wanted to do when I got home. I told her I wanted to saw my legs off and soak whatever’s left of me in epsom salt until my skin looked like a 24 hour wet brine turkey.

Walk 18. Never again. Cart gang for life.

My playing partner aced the 11th today. His ball landed on a bank that runs along the right side of the green. It ran along the bank turned left and raced across the green and in. Pot had grown to 8k. Pro shop paid out 5k with the remaining 3k saved for the next ace. Happy times.

Bigdad, you may want to also paste your 2nd pp into the BBQ thread.

But, yeah, sounds pretty grueling.

What am I pasting in the bbq thread?

Hopefully not your PP.
