HAHA - so I had both Dahmen and Ryder, but the other two guys I started on Thursday missed the cut and the two guys on my bench made the cut but never swapped them in. FAIL

So I wanted to get into a fantasy league to improve my picks in money pools… we head into my big money pool this week ($27 entry, last masters winner won $2000)…
I paid for 2 teams this year, and actually thought through all my selections… it’s also a run your pool setup, so very similar to Jons event.
The difference this year is I know more players, so I hopefully don’t have many guys likely to miss the cut… and my expectations are different, as I know the best players still consistently underperform my expectations for them!

That is what makes the PGA so tough to bet on. The amount of good players is almost endless and lesser known players can show up on any given week and play well enough to score a ton of points. One advantage that you will have is that a lot of people that enter the pools for the majors is that they don’t have the experience of following the players and tournaments closely so at the very least the fantasy league should help with some of that!
The Masters brings a lot of people to golf betting and fantasy that don’t usually follow it. I am thinking of setting a ‘Safe’ lineup on Fanduel and set up head to head matches and see how many people I can beat haha.

I think one of my big lessons thus far is that there is no such thing as a “safe” lineup… Guys who played well last week might not show up, and guys who missed the cut might be in the top 10.
It’s hard NOT to pick Jordan Spieth for a number of reasons, but seems like he’s going to be overvalued by casual golf fans.
Spieth was my pick to win the Masters until two days ago. It is so hard to go back to back then on top of it, its a major. He still could do it being really hot but yeah I hear you about value… I currently have him in my lineup but it is not finalized yet. He is playing so hot and plays Augusta well as you prob know. It really is about who shows up. You can make a case for most of the field.

I don’t have him in Jon’s pool, I do have him in one of my 2 entries in the money pool…
It’s to 4 of 6, so I’m not sure what the correct strategy is… these kind of pools are interesting, as if the “hot” pick does well, you are treading water against the field by selecting them… but if you don’t pick them, and they don’t play great, you can pick up some “easy” points…
I’m employing a number of different (and equally poor) strategies… I have 2 entries into my regular pool, Jon’s, the Chasing Scratch Patreon page, and one I manage for some guys at my local club (i basically do all the data entry for them and they pay me with a free entry… the ROI is VERY low)

For the record, I’m in 15th in my big money pool… ($2800 to first place, 300 entries) and have 2 top 10 teams in the smaller pool I do all
The data entry for… i entered it 2 years ago and got frustrated with how slowly they were processing results so I automated most of it via excel.
…so I guess I should have started Hideki.

I totally missed out on last week. My wife and I just bought a hair salon that was closed during covid shutdown so we have been a bit busy.
