Golf Sub 70 Clubs

It will be more of a general exploration of driving irons as a category. I’d like golfers to understand what the clubs are capable of, and who they are suitable for.

I tend not to do singular club reviews too often just because I’m not a clubfitter and don’t have access to aggregate data. For example, if I were seeing hundreds of golfers I’d be able to spot which clubs perform better for certain players. Either way, I’m sure Sub 70 has done a great job with this one, I’ll use it as an “anecdotal” reference in the article.

That is a great idea for an article. Looking forward to reading it. I guess I should know by now you rarely do specific club reviews…still will be interested in what you think of that club too…maybe on here?

Looks great! What shaft do you have in it? Why did you chose 2 instead of 3? I’m awaiting a shipping notice on my 3U any day now.

Guess I will not be trying out the 699s after all. Not going to bash them on a public forum. Maybe just a popular company going through growing pains…

That’s part of it; the other part is that the entire industry (even the big OEMs) have had a rough year with supply chain issues, for understandable reasons.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with them, and hope they try to fix whatever situation is going on…

If you still have any interest, I recommend reaching out to jason directly. He’s the ceo and should be happy to speak with you, but maybe you’ve been down that road or maybe you are just done with the company.

Sorry to hear! Hope you find someone you want to do business with.

It was a customer service issue not product related. It was a gamble on a new company that didn’t work, and I’ll let it go, just disappointing.

Just a follow up on my 699 irons. Love them so much better than the Callaway Mavriks I ordered at the beginning of the year. I have had wrist surgery & missed all of 2019 golf season and still on the “weak” side which has cost me yardage. I bought the Marvriks seeking max distance. The 699’s are just as long and have way more feel/feedback/performance! Pro 5-wood fairway arrived yesterday and got a few swings in with it. Just as good in early review!! Thanks Jason, @GolfSub70!

I’m 80% certain if I buy new clubs this season it will be the sub70 Ta3

I’ll be interested in this. I have D, 3W, 3H, 4I in bag (will swap out 3i for a wedge next year). Wondering if the driving iron may be better than hybrid for me.

@jon one thing I’d be interested in is how they perform from rough and recovery shots (low punch outs). My 4i launches pretty high so can really get into a bind on recovery shots and can’t really hit hybrid on those shots too often.

I’m planning to buy the 3 wood next year.

I’m really excited about their pro hybrids… I prefer non adjustable hybrids

Are there any plans for left handed wedges? @Sub70_Jay

Yep! We should have LH wedges in stock within 3-4 weeks

Can you tell us about the new wedges? When are the ta3s coming?

Absolutely. The 286 Wedges will be very similar to our original wedges. We took customer feedback over the last 18 months or so and made some small tweaks. It’ll still be DT-4 Steel with a CNC milled face. We added a third weight port which should provide the desired ball flight without sacrificing spin or stopping power. The leading edge is going to be a bit straighter than original wedge as well.

The JB wedges are going to be for the person who likes to manipulate the face more to hit a wider variety of both full swing and short game shots. It’ll sit tighter and have a higher toe. 46*-64* and in all three finishes (satin, black and raw)

The TAIII stuff should be in before the end of the year. Just waiting on an updated ETA. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten any sort of update but I know everything has been a bit backlogged this year and especially the last 2-3 months.

May need to talk wedges soon! I love my RTX 52 and 58 but contemplating adding another wedge for next year. Since it’ll be probably 48 and not as intended for greenside use as much as full swings I’m not tied to RTX for it.
