Which Pinehurst Course To Play?

Just played #2 on Saturday. I recommend hitting driver everywhere. The fw + waste areas are pretty wide. I played with 3 guys that were attempting to lay back with irons and even they were missing fairways. Mind as well bomb it down there and get as close as you can.

Short game was challenging. Greens weren’t as fast as #4 and #8 but if you miss in the bunkers or short side yourself, it is very difficult to keep it anywhere close to the hole (or on the green depending on where you are)

I played a pretty solid round overall with the exception of a 7 on 6 (par 3) after I missed right of the green side bunker on hard pan. Tried to pitch it over the bunker and sent it over to the opposite bunker. Next shot hit the lip at and rolled back to my feet. Followed by a solid bunker shot that rolled off the other side into the original bunker I attempted to pitch over. Finally got one on and two putted for a smooth 7.

However, I immediately followed that hole with birdies on 7, 8, and 10… That scorecard was interesting

I just thought again, #3 is the one place you should consider hitting less than driver. That’s the one with the cross bunker that cuts the fairway about in half, something like 250 or 260 from the tee…

Ok… hopefully I only hit driver 13 times.

I think I must have measured from the wrong box on number 3… looks like it crosses at about 240

the Decade team let me “pull forward” one of my yardage books in my subscription so I could print out Pinehurst number 2

I have printed my yardage book…

I have drawn driving triangles onto the book and picked out targets…

I know what club I am hitting on 14 of the holes

My one golf goal is to pick a great target off the tee and make my stock swing to a finish…

Other than that I just want to have a great walk… anticipation is starting to build
