Love that we have UK representation on here!
Doesn’t seem to have very many of us yet, but hopefully a few more will come along.
I know there are a lot of readers from the UK, Australia, and some other countries around the world. Hopefully, they’ll get on here soon!
I live in Valencia in SoCal. The crazy thing is, I never lived around this many courses before. I have 3 courses all within 5 minutes of me and 2 other courses within 15 minutes or so. That being said, I will definitely travel to almost anywhere to play golf!
Too many courses is my problem. Until a few years ago I had only one course within 30 minutes so I was a member there. Now I have two within 5 and another 4 within 15, I am currently a member of one but often think one or more of the others would be a better option.
I’m in La Crescenta, a bit down the 210 from ya. I played up in Valencia once, just a so-so course I don’t remember the name. Any good value courses up there for a walker?
I’m in Adelaide South Australia where the coldest day this winter was 10degs meaning we can golf all year
We’ve got an Aussie! Welcome! I’m dying to play some of your great courses.
Nice, have you ever played LCFCC? I have always been curious about that course.
Up here we have The Oaks Club at Valencia (former TPC) - good conditions, I just don’t like the layout. Valencia CC - supposedly a great course but haven’t played yet and Vista Valencia - which is a so-so course with some fun holes (and an island green !?!) and very walkable but with fivesomes and general slow play, takes way too long to get around that track.
I would say the best value course for a walker is Elkins Ranch, really like the back 9 and reasonably priced. We will have to get a round in one of these years :).
Vista Valencia! That’s the so-so course I played. Haven’t been to any of the country clubs, very much a public/muni player (unless anyone wants to invite me out somewhere!)
I’ll check out Elkins Ranch. Thanks!
For La Canada-Flintridge CC, I was thinking about joining there, but in the end the numbers just didn’t work. Walked the course a bit on the tour, but couldn’t play it. Tight layout, front seemed walkable, but I was told the back isn’t.
I live in Raleigh; member at Lonnie Poole. I also participate with NextGenGolf (City Tour) which is a great way to meet new people and play some phenomenal courses (i.e. Tobacco Road and Pinehurst this past year).
Always looking to make new friends in the area.
SW Kansas here…we play year round but the wind blows all the time!
Upstate NY, near Saratoga! I once told someone in Florida I had been golfing for 8 years and he goes “nah, 4 years. That damn snow makes half the year not count”
that’s a good one
Upstate NY, near Albany.
In the midst of a nice string of high 70 degree days.
I’ll usually play as long as a course is open ( not when it dips into the the 30s though) and play in a couple of indoor leagues over our depressingly long winter’s.
our winter’s that seem to be getting longer
I don’t know how many winters I have left in my soul!
I feel you on the long winters…
Going to have to start hitting the simulators soon here in Montana. Although, it has been beautiful here lately and I’m still taking any opportunity to hit the course.
Southern New Hampshire here! Le me know if you are around here. I saw @bri256 is in Boston. Anyone else close by?
Me too. Two leagues at Indian and we’ve playing Iron Horse in Ashland on the weekends.
I’m also sad from Mid-March to Mid-April because I have to face that my big plans to stay in “golf shape” over the Winter didn’t happen.
