I checked out the Uneekor EYE MINI at a golf store in Dallas, and right away, I noticed it felt different from other portable launch monitors. It’s built tough and feels like it can take a beating. It’s a little bigger than some others, but still easy to carry. The built-in screen is great – you don’t need another device to see your stats, which makes it simpler to use than many others at this price. The layout is clean, and the info it gives you is really detailed.
When it comes to how correct the numbers are, the EYE MINI is pro-level. Instead of using radar like some, it uses two high-speed cameras to directly measure the ball and club. This means you get real data, not guesses. I used it with all kinds of clubs, both inside and outside, and the results were always consistent.
The Club Optix feature shows slow-motion video of your club hitting the ball, which is super useful if you’re trying to see your face angle, contact point, and club path. If you’re trying to hit the ball better, this is one of the coolest things I’ve seen on a portable launch monitor.
One of the best things about the EYE MINI is that it doesn’t need special balls to track spin. You can use any ball – range balls, tour balls, anything – and it will still correctly measure the spin. Many other launch monitors either need special balls or can’t read cheap range balls outside. The EYE MINI worked great in both situations.
Setting it up was quick and easy. You can use an Ethernet cable for the most solid, steady setup, or use the wireless mode to make its own network. One small issue: if you’re on an iPad, you can’t get online while connected to the EYE MINI’s WiFi. Not a huge deal, but remember that if you want to use GSPro, E6 Connect, or other online stuff. On a PC, the VIEW and REFINE software worked smoothly, and I easily connected to other simulation software.
At $4,500, it’s up against the GC3 and Bushnell Launch Pro. But Uneekor keeps costs down in the long run with a one-time $1,999 payment to fully other club data and connect to other software. That’s a good deal compared to the ones that charge you every year. And it includes club tracking from the start, while some others make you pay extra for that.
After really putting it to the test, I think the Uneekor EYE MINI is one of the best all-around launch monitors around. It’s fast, correct, and works in many ways, whether you’re inside or outside, and you don’t need any special balls or stickers. The built-in screen is handy, and the slow-motion video gives you feedback that most portable monitors don’t have. If you want data like the pros use in a portable package, without having to pay fees all the time, this is a great option.
