Alright, so I have been a proud member of the push cart mafia for a while and when I was playing 6800yd mostly flat-ish muni courses it made a lot of sense. Now, my club is >6000 yards, but with massive elevation changes on pretty much every hole. I’ve discovered that walking it is so much easier with my Sunday bag rather than trying to push the cart around, but that bag can really only hold 8 clubs max.
I’m thinking I should get the lightest possible bag out there that will hold all my clubs. No legs or anything, just a bag and a couple decent sized pockets (since rounds are so fast at the club, I find I don’t need to pack a bunch of stuff like I did for the public rounds). If I can keep it light enough, I figure I won’t be putting too much strain on my back.
I know Ping has the Moonlite bag, anyone have any experience with that? Or just anything you think I should put on the radar?
Linksoul Linksoldier Sunday Carry Bag is also at the top of my list if I can wait until my next Linksoul cash from Golfer’s Journal comes through:
According to the reviews it’ll hold the whole set.
Sun mountain is usually highly rated in the ultra light category… I’ve seen some cool leather carry bags…
Personally, I’d go for whatever looks the most durable vs whatever is the lightest… replacing a worn out bag every season doesn’t sound fun.
Good point. Really the only thing I’ve ever had break on me on a golf bag are the legs. I’m fine with going without those.
Looks like there is a titliest bag for $100
I’d add the Ping Hoofer Lite to your list of bags to check out.
As an owner of a Titleist bag I will advise you against, especially if you’re going to carry. I hate my Titleist bag - it was a gift from my wife because my old Hoofer “looked old”. Ok yeah but I loved it.
My Titleist bag feels so much heavier than it says it is. The straps are uncomfortable. One of them broke not even a year after I got it. And I don’t carry. I push cart it a handful of times a year. Otherwise, I ride 99% of the time.
IMO the Hoofer Lite is the way to go if you don’t want to use the Sunday bag.
At less than 6000 yards couldn’t you possibly get away with only having 8 clubs?
Ping does make the best bag.
I’ve played 7 clubs (driver + odds/evens + putter) a few times already and it works fine. Actually squeezed 11 in there for my morning round today and I never felt like I was missing a club, but it was a little tight. The Sunday bag I have was a $20 eBay one, so room for a bit of an upgrade. I think it’s down to the Ping Moonlite or the Linksoul bag.
If I get impatient for the Linksoul one, I might just have to go for this random one on Amazon:
Datsusara Sunday Golf Bag, Lightweight Hemp Carry Bag, Hickory Golf Approved Bag, Hemp Gear for Victory https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07W41DT75/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_gp0IFbTZ3T46A
I really like the look of the hemp material.
I got a nice Top Flite bag with legs, that holds all my clubs, and is light enough I carry every round. I know it’s not the flashy brand name but it was affordable and I’m happy with it.
I almost always walk (when I play 9) and bought a Tangkula bag on amazon.com 2 years ago with a 4 way divider. I also bought a clip to have my putter on the outside (jumbo grip) with the grip up/head down in a side pocket. I easily fit 12 clubs + putter and the bag is still going strong after 2 years with no issues. The leg stands aren’t as spry as they used to be, but they work fine still. I think it was $75 or something like that and the puttler side bag clip was less than $10.
I use Titleist Sunday bag but only carry 9 clubs
I don’t walk with a full bag as I am real lazy… just a character flaw I reckon
18 hole rounds are played in a cart with the full set in a stitch golf bag
How do you like your Stitch bag?
It is the Yeti cooler of golf bags. Looks good, but you could buy something just as functional for half the price.
The baby blue was calling my name though.
The SL1 does have a really nice look. It’s definitely on my list.
My only complaint is that I wish it was a 3 way divider so that i could divide long irons and scoring clubs
If you want to spend a lot of money or put it on your gift list for Christmas, you can always invest $800-1100 for a beautiful Flag Bag. Don’t yell at me, it is just a suggestion
You either love golf or hate money
Or you could love golf and have lots of money… so buy a Flag Bag, get a Audi 8, go on a buddies trip to Bandon, buy 2 bags or play Pebble Beach, … lots of ways to spend your money. Just be happy. LOL!!!
