That makes sense to me now. That is kind of how I was thinking after I read your first couple posts a few times and looked up rule 17. I do have a more clear understanding between red and yellow stakes now too after reading through it more carefully. I appreciate your insight! I am always glad to have a better grasp on the rules and I should probably read through the rest of them more carefully to see what I am missing.
I tried that once, and found that none of it stuck in my brain. I’ve found that, for me, its best if I’m looking up the answer to a specific situation. I used to carry the small rulebook in my golf bag, and refer to it between shots to find answers. Now its on the phone app, but not really a lot easier to find the right rule as I’m walking down a fairway. In real life, in casual play, we make the best choice we can, then look up the right answers in the pub after we get done.
