The Ultimate Swing Path Drill

Hi golfers,

While there is no “one perfect drill” for all, I have had great success in very quickly changing a golfer’s swing path (and even evolving their entire swing technique) with this simple drill.

This is only a small part of what I use the drill for (the rest is in my Next Level Golf program - https://www.adamyounggolf.com/nlg/

I find it a great way of simplifying thought processes, and is something that is easy to take on the course. It can fix multiple faults at once (even though this video only discusses swing path), and fits in with the motor learning science RE external thought processes.

Even at my level, I still use this when shaping and/or calibrating my stock shot. I hope you enjoy

P.s. if you want the free ebook I talk about in the video, the link is here - https://www.adamyounggolf.com/prm-golf-hacks-free-yt/

Such a great way to visualize what you want to do without drowning your mind with additional swing thoughts.

Wow, when you are as analytical as I am, this paints a perfect visualization and takes that away. I need more of this type of learning, I am definitely more visual and this does that for me. What a great drill, I will definitely try this thought process during my next range session. I love when things that are simple make sense. Now hopefully I can put this into play. Thank you for sharing this video @Adamyounggolf

Some of the best tips are the simplest. I also like Harvey Penick’s ‘Clip the Tee’, a similar idea to get you hitting through the ball than at the ball.

I love when you hit the zero swing path :joy: - great video

That was completely accidental. I actually wanted to get my stock +3 path, so that I could show how I could neutralize it with the nail focus. It worked out well anyway.

That’s probably the first 0.0 path I’ve had

Somehow I don’t believe that. You said you were going to show a zero swing path and it was 0.0.

Thank you!
My swing thoughts are always all over the place, this helps

Have you ever had a golfer, maybe two, start a cult about hammering a nail and then completely abandon it and somehow manage to be 8 degrees inside and somehow positive aoa with irons?

Asking for a friend. His name is Eli. And also mike.

Thanks for a great visualization tip, Adam. And nice control on the 0.0.

I am that golfer too. I’ve been measured as high as 12 degrees and sometimes 0 or positive with irons. Wrap your head around that!

Normally, whatever I “feel”, I tend to produce about 1-2 degrees more in to out of that.

For me to have a 0 path on average, I usually have to “feel” a 2 deg left path, or more (some days).

This does show how experimenting (I changed path before I tried the 0) gives us more control of our desired path though.

Lol. I suppose their issue was they haven’t got the measurement devices that I have to track it.

If they got better at interpreting their ball flight, they wouldn’t need it though.

Love this!

I have used the nail thought when working on angle of attack but not for swing path. I am going to try this next time I am practicing.

Love this and its simplicity…thank you!!

Oh and never thought Adam would sound like that; probably been living in US too long that I get excited hearing a Brit lol

Haha… I’ve said it before but I’m the guy they name check in two episodes (Will Terry)… I love the podcast but have some issues with their overall approach… I’m not confident they’ve abandoned the pretty swing mentality and they certainly are still working on figuring out path.

Though based on the podcast, we should be thankful they didn’t throw a shoe (or flip flop) at you.
