The LIV Tour --- and a Scruffy Phil ! Opinions -- agree or disagree?

That could present an issue if the USGA and the R&A will suspend the players participating in the LIV Tour. It will definitely have some sort of impact on the tournament participation. Especially with events like the Ryder Cup.

f there is a better source to power the motor vehicle, I’ll be very interested. Many do not know the lithium battery is extremely poisonous, harder to break down, buried, burned… on the surface it’s more environmentally friendly, it is worse than burning crude oil. Plus, the application of the battery powered motor vehicle is not effective. Good for short distance driving and a nice toy. I’m not impressed.
[/quote

Main focus on ‘zero emission at tail pipe’ is still electric, although maybe not Lithium (although the recycling of Lithium batteries has moved on a lot they are more often repurposed at end of life in a road vehicle to lower speed/less power draw vehicles). Even with current tech its possible to do 300 miles on a full charge and Genesis now claim a 10-80% recharge in under 20 minutes. Ethanol or other biofuels are still on the table as is hydrogen. Not relevant I know, but sustainability is what I do and as I am browsing in work time I feel justified now!!

My view on the money front is that is ‘sportswashing’ and helps legitimize a pretty evil regime. Basically a high end PR campaign.

Not convincing enough for us to move to EV at current options.
Some of my friends have the EV just because, as their 3rd or 4th vehicle in the family for short range driving. 300 miles per charge is on paper, no one actually got anywhere close to the advertised mileage from the OEM whether it’s 200 or 300 miles under normal driving condition.
Lithium is still one of the more poisonous elements for general use.

Until they have a better source for power, we’re sticking with crude oil powered vehicle.
I don’t care what type of fuel as long as it’s used in an internal combustion type of power plant, pollution as we know will persist.

A major revamp of the infrastructure might be more practical than seeking the illusive alternative method to power motor vehicle.
By changing the need for a highway system to something which could utilize massive transit system. Look no further than other major cities for answers. Most of them do not need personal transportation to get around for daily activities.
Home based school and office system could also aid in lessen the traffic on the roadway; but, are we willing to give up some of our freedom to get to places whenever we wish?
One of my close friend worked overseas for 3 years, came back thinner with 35 lbs. less than I remembered. He said, basically two things changed for him in that 3 years. His diet changed with the local food ( never suffered ), and he walked mostly to everywhere, using mass transit system in between.
The rapid charging system for the EV is not available unless one has the attachment and a modified home base charging station. Over night for a full charge is way too long and nothing on the horizon for interstate traveling just yet.
No, it’s the direction we should be heading, but not working according to plan at the moment.
All we could do is try our best to plan our trip and carpool as much as we could. we started this practice more than 10 years ago, before the hike on the fuel cost.

BTW, according to the latest news, the LIV Tour might change its format to a regular Tour stroke competition type by as early as 2023!
Norman must be getting some pressure now, to cut back on spending with the LIV Tour; by not answering his phone because more top 40 ranked golfer been calling him to try to get a piece of the pie before the dish is empty.
Until the LIV could prove that it could stand on it’s feet or reaching some sort of agreement with the Major Tour to co-exist; it is but anchored before its crossing of the bridge.
Also found out the initial commitment is not $50 B, It is still huge with $3 B. and that is also not available all at once.
Anyone find out if Norman has any personal stake in this venture? which he is so at it, like it’s his last task on earth.

DLlll got pretty real in this article. Davis speaks! He comes from a PGA family. But he reiterated what I’ve said about the PGA Tour all along. The members set the rules. And if the members don’t want the mutineers back…. Well… so it is written, so it is done! I think that was a Yul Brynner line. All these guys have left for money, and refuse to admit it. They are really alienating fans. It’s not about expanding the game it’s about expanding the checking account and not having to work. I’m thinking what should happen to the mutineers is what happened to Curt Flood. Make your bed…. Lie in it!!!

“The King and I” Love Deborah Kerr and of course the cool Yul Brynner. Always thought his deep voice was cool , but did not realize it was mainly caused by chain smoking. I did that in the 70’s and the 80’s since it was “cool” to smoke. My golf hero Ben Hogan chain smoked on the golf course, so did Arnold Palmer and a bunch of the other pro golfers, except for Sam Snead, who not only didn’t smoke nor drink, he did not even indulge in the simple pleasure of ice cream until later in his life.
I have nothing against someone who took advantage of the initial 2 billion bribery money because they could not compete any more or their days of competition is near the end of the journey. Someone who host the tournament simply because to save his business. I understand all those reasons.
However, like you said, don’t treat the fans like they are idiots. If anyone says that the did it not because of the money; then, for what reason. Proof that you did not do it because of the money by donating every last dime to charity, let’s see that action?
They forgot one very important fact, which is, the reason why they received the offer in the first place, was because their status built on the regular tour, without it, they’d got air. Ungrateful Busters! Take the dough and stop lying. Hide your red face for awhile.

It looks like the LIV Tour is changing it’s plan after getting bashed by so many on the media and from the other Tours. “Expanding to 14 tournaments” will not be enough to fill the season, especially considering a global golf season. Also have to consider the schedule for the other major Tours. Will they offer sustainable golden egg to keep all those players or, those players will leave after they got the pay off ( even just a part of it ). 14 tournaments will not satisfied a good players appetite for competition nor reward.
A couple of issues they started on the wrong foot and I don’t see any easy way to correct it.
What kind of game will it be if there is no real sense of competition? I often joke with our group when someone demands an unfair “handicap adjustment” before we tee off. I will tell them that if it will make them feel better, then I’ll peel off the $5 dollar Nassau from my wallet and settle it on the first tee before the actual game starts.
It’ll lose all the meaning for winning the Nassau.
No, 14 Tournament still won’t cut it. Very bad business plan which needs to change their heading because they had not thought it through before they launched into the water.
One sign of their initial $2 Billion pool to be used to attract the “top” golfer is getting dried up. They are not signing up golfers like they used to, even with a few which have the credential to be the top 50 players in the world.
Are they still on the wagon of someone’s personal revenge trail?
I hope they were smart enough to get that someone to commit personal $$$ for the venture.
One thing I learned from the past is, never trust anyone whom has no personal stake in a joint venture.

The whole set up is hokey. Shotgun starts are not fair. One person starts on the toughest hole, one starts on the easiest hole and usually the flow of the course is done purposely by the architect. So that’s a huge problem. Using Shotgun starts also limits the field to 88 players if they put double the groups on par 3s. Again, there is zero incentives to become an elite player. All of the golfers are really good, even on your local circuit, but there is no way on a 72 hole test week after week you can compete any longer with PGA Tour player that are tournament hardened. I mean just look at Henrik. He signed for 4 years, got $30M upfront, whacked the ball around for 3 days, lucky enough to win, made another $4M, and at age 47, do you think he would have gotten anywhere near to a payday like that. In his entire career Henrik made $32M on tour. So in 3 days he doubled that. Boom! Do you think he has the chance to win another major? Do you think anyone will remember he was or wasn’t a Ryder Cup cap? The answer to both of those questions is NO! This is a consciousness question, it’s a moral question. At the end of the day I get why, just don’t lie to the fans about it, second, don’t rip the PGA Tour, they gave you the forum to earn a living and display your talent for the game. Just be honest, go on your merry way and know you did right by your family, but at a cost of giving your rights to play on Tour and majors and anything associated with it. It’s called selling your soul to the devil and it shouldn’t be that hard to live with as you speak from your new yacht.

Shotgun start is not fair and the Captain’s pick for the team contest is also not fair. Too many details are not harden and tested by decades of tournament play.
Trevino is right, everything will fall into places.
Someone was being used for other’s personal agenda. Had they use the fortune to work with the existing Tours, or something entirely different like the sports betting; it will be more suited.
It is evident that the LIV trying to expose their existence and intention in the media. They had been blasting the Facebook and Tweeter recently. Of course, they also get some main stream coverage.
Lots of flag wavers, most of them are paid position or compensated.
Hired guns so to speak.
Henrik Stenson got his retirement; good for him, do we really think he could win $30M. in tournament play in the next 5-10 years? At least he got the up front payment. Losing the position for the Captain of the European Rider Team is probably been thought over and calculated.
Bubba Watson’s statement of his wife is happy, they prayed over it but glade they are with the LIV…
Personal choice we have to make in life. Nothing against their decision.
I still believe the suspension for the players who lumped ship is not enough, they should lose their current status on the PGA and if they decided to come back from fresh, then they will be welcomed.
Maybe they figured even if the LIV goes belly up next year, they have already fatten their wallet.
For T.W. to even replied with a number he wants to be on board with the LIV ( reported $800M. instead of the $350 M. being offered ) has already shown his character.
Why, should a fan of this game rally behind these characters? If these guys could throw away all they had been working for and trampled it in the mud, then why do we buy products or services or anything that’s related to them?
Their endorsement should be taken away, because I will not spend another dime on anything related to these guys. May that be a watch, a golf club or collectibles.
Do not support anyone who does not meet your own moral standard. They can live their life however they see fit, just not in my life any longer.

So here we go. Let’s buy a Suit! Again, these gentlemen don’t seem to realize Toscano v PGA Tour is settled law. But, like Dustin was in Training Huggies and Phil was learning to play Blackjack in the Indian Casinos back then. I say this——You made your beds now lie in them you greedy pieces of garbage. Most fans are not interested in your crocodile tears. You got your money, you took your money, most likely Phil’s already out of money (lost it betting that Tony Finau couldn’t win 2 in a row!)… not our problem! Please Don’t go away mad…. Just go away! They have to prove the PGA Tour is preventing them from earning a living! They signed for MILLIONS of DOLLARS on a rival Tour… It’s going to get laughed out of court! That’s their only option! To win the suit, under the Anti-Trust act, they have to prove the PGA Tour is preventing them from earning a living… NO, they are being prevented from competing on what is a Rival Tour. They signed guaranteed contracts to make money whether they play golf or not!     CLOWNS!

LOL, I cracked up when a couple of these ship jumpers publicly stated that money was not the issue. Really!
Prove it as my wife said, donate every last red cent to charity if money is not the issue.
These idiots need to face the wall and think over how did they get their offering from the LIV. Yes, they had paid their dues and some of them have the talent ( no matter how minute it is ). They should be thankful, everyday they crawl out of the bed, that they get to live a life every golfer will be envious of.
Saying stupid things to the 9-11 family members protesting outside the event ( not a tournament) to go away and time to forget about it… WTF !
So shameful that they are U.S. citizens. They don’t deserve the privilege and should be stripped off of it.
The bare minimum the PGA could do is to suspend them until further notice, and make them go down to the bottom of the list when the crawl back in a short time. In the meantime, promote those who are hungry and beyond the top 125 spots. I’d bet we would see some excellent tournament golf from those guys. They’re better than the NAACP and the NAACP is no push over.
I don’t see any entity could support his financial bleeding for a prolonged period of time. Or maybe they’re getting out of the crypto currency market now so they have assets to burn.
Again, I would ask. Just how much did Norman “invest” in this venture? Or he is just helping the rich to part with their moola? Or, put it in another way, Norman never disclosed just how much he, personally is being compensated from this ordeal?
I’m sure every golf fan being blasted on the social media wants to know.
Every day I get on golf related media, there it is. LIV and all the garbage they tried to make peace with the golf fan. I believe some of these so called new golfers might be following the blog. In my mind, no true golfers will be interest in knowing how LIV is doing, just being annoyed when the noise keep on banging.
A struggle before drowning? Too little, too late. They achieved nothing but rocked the boat and disturbed the current events for maybe a year or 2, that’s it.
Any high school kids would see that.

We need to rethink how our judicial system works?
I mean, yes, we need to create jobs for all the graduates coming out of the law schools. However, wantonly brought lawsuit against anyone and anything without consequences is not right.
Beyond the usual obligation for the losing side to pay the winning side their legal expenses involved. How about additional punitive damage on top? So there be no idiots bringing lawsuit which will likely jam up the court schedule and create daytime soap drama.
“Eleven professional golfers filed an antitrust lawsuit against the PGA Tour Wednesday”.
I won’t let them go scots free. They have some serious money in their bank account now, so why not go after it if there is a case? More court time for the attorneys on both sides.
There you go, a class action lawsuit from the fans of golf.

Look I just had words with someone that said well the DoJ is investigating the PGA Tour. And I’m like yea? And? They should be, that’s their job. I likened it to you go out one day, show up at the Ferrari dealership and buy a brand new Testa Rossa for $250K cash. Well they have to turn in tax papers, your neighbor might be nosy and think you are a crack dealer so the cops come knocking. But no one, including the IRS knew you just got a 1M inheritance and decided to make that purchase. An investigation has zero to do with anything. Violation of Sherman is what they are looking for. I just don’t see it. Not even for an injunction to be granted. Players resigned their membership in the PGA Tour to pursue making money on a rival Tour. The PGA Tour has every right to set its rules to be in that elite club. If the PGA Tour was preventing the golfers in the suit from making a living on that rival tour they would have a leg to stand on. This is not the case. What they should be doing is suing the new Tour for unfair labor practices because of the discrepancies in pay. So there it is. And they all took upfront monies for a length of term. So how is the PGA stopping them from making a living. It’s a non compete agreement? All the PGA Tour is doing is preventing them from playing in PGA Tour sanctioned events and the DP Tour will probably file along. They own their events and the Camel Tour players can play in where they signed up. No monopoly!

In the layman’s way of explaining this; if the kitchen staff of a restaurant decided to go next block to cook for a competing restaurant because of a $5/hr. raise in pay; fine, they have the right to seek a better life for themselves.
However, by leaving the current establishment with no notice and with the disapproval of the owner; clearly caused potential damage to the business.
Why?
Would the first restaurant welcome them back when they’re ready to come back? I’d promote the next inline to the vacant position immediately filling the position. Sorry bud, get in line. With the LIV recent announcement to get into a more regular schedule for the 2023. There be conflict in the tournament schedule from all the events.
Does this scenario looks familiar?
Remember when we used to stretch our neck awaiting for the “next” new golf clubs to come out every 2-3 years? Then Taylor Made broke the mode to come out with new drivers each year and then several variations of the new models within the same calendar year?
What happened to the golfer’s expectation for the “new” equipment since then ? We’re not jumping on the new release any more. Many are waiting for a huge discounted price for the previous model year to happen.
This disruption of the order which is stretched full with all the schedules from Tours around the World will be tested. Fans will eventually get tired and overwhelmed. Lost of interest is what it’ll be.

Yes, they have the right to make a decision for their own; but don’t expect to swing back to meet welcoming arms.
Lawsuit against the first restaurant owner? How ridiculous it’ll be !
I know one thing. The attorneys are licking their chops because they know a lengthy court battle is on it’s way.

LOL! Someone was actually feeling sorry for Greg Norman for taking the heat.
It proves that not everyone has the same level of information and know how to use it.

Norman rumored to be compensated to the number of $1 B, that is One Billion for his roll of taking on the PGA.
Now we know why Tiger did not take the reported $700-$800 million to stand up for the LIV. In every sense, he is head and shoulders above Norman, not less.
I guess, everyone has their price, even to sell their soul.

Only if they understand there is just so much one could consume in a life time. More does not mean better. The point is to treasure and to enjoy what you have. A guy having a hamburger dinner could enjoy as much or better than the guy having a fillet minion.
Do we all remember the story of a King in exile, at the mercy of a common farmer was given a potato dinner and thought it was the best food he had ever had. Went back to the farm years later after he regained control of his kingdoms to renew the best meal he had ever had. Ended up it was just another potato dinner. Think of why Dalai Lama and Albert Einstein both said the same, the best life is an uneventful plain life.
Some of us are in the midst of it and never realized that we’re having the best the life could offer.

Hot Damn, I guess everyone has his price.
My wife just alerted me of the recent ship jumpers.
I hope they’ll get a big balloon payment up front.

Well as I said, judge denied the request of the 3 ship jumpers Gooch, Swafford and Jones to grant an injunction against the PGA Tour for not allowing them to play in the playoffs. Citing Toscano, the players could NOT show irreparable harm by not allowing them to play. They all are making money on LIV. You cannot break rules of membership then be allowed to play in the club. I feel vindicated!

More work for the attorneys. We need to provide opportunities for those who passed the BAR.
Although in the past, it’d been the stepping stone to climb the corporate ladder. If someone has the smart and the heart; they can be CEO/CFO of some conglomerate outfit.
Appellate court, here they come!
I just never thought T.W. would be one of them. But, I guess it’ll be a real quick way to get his fortune pass the peak he once had ad. Now that he realized that he will not have one more glory year like Hogan had.
It is what it is, each generation is different; as mine is not measuring up to my father’s.

Round one, PGA. Looking at the ruling from the case of the asking for temporary injunction for the LIV golfers to compete in the FedEx Cup, this will be a tough road for the rest of the LIV golfers to try to come back to the PGA Tour.
Also the trial shed light on some insight of the LIV contract with the ship jumpers. The LIV contract has a performance clause ( detail not known) which gave the LIV management ( Norman) the sole right to terminate the contract with the golfers. So, if Phil Michelson “is not performing” then the LIV could terminate his contract without fulfilling the rest of the payments beyond the first balloon payment.
I looks like there be future court cases against the LIV from the LIV golfers who get kicked off the LIV in the future.
In this case, the attorneys will have a field day, for many years to come.

New name for these guys… I think the L in LIV stands for litigation. Patrick Reed suing Brandel Chamblee and Golf Channel for $750M for defamation. Brandel called Patrick a cheater. Well Capt America… the truth hurts. We all saw you build sand castles. Playing in a tournament is a lot different than a Sunday round having fun, when you can roll your ball out of a fairway divot. But I wouldn’t break rules if I was playing a $5 Nassau, Mr Reed is a cheater, he joined a tour that won’t penalize you for grounding your club in the sand or at least it appears that way because no one cares cuz no one’s watching! These guys are really full of themselves. I would rather pull weeds all day than watch a LIV event. Plus it makes my wife happy!.
