Silly Question: Does a hole in one on the 19th hole of Payne's Valley "count"

We all know there are certain rules for whether or not a hole in one “counts” (Sorry, Geoff, they par 3 course hole in one you had on a second ball isn’t a hole in one)…

My rules are fairly simple… first ball, during a round (on a full sized golf course), other’s present.

Which got me to thinking about the 19th hole at Tiger’s new course… for those of you who don’t know, it’s a beautiful par 3 cut into a canyon / lake and was designed by the resorts owner… It’s a truly magnificent hole, and I would certainly love to tee one up there…

But if I managed to knock it in (after an 18 hole round) is it an “official” hole in one? I’d still buy a round of drinks and claim it…

Basic rule: if you feel compelled to “qualify” your hole-in-one story, to that degree, it isn’t a full HIO. For my part, even if I were playing by myself, I have no reason to say that it’s anything other than a HIO. When the tree falls in the woods, and I’m the only one there to hear it, it definitely made a sound.

If I got a HIO on the 19th at Payne’s Valley, I would mostly count it. So if someone said, “Ever had a hole in one?”, I’d definitely say, “Yes, but…” The but means it’s mostly a HIO, but not fully.

Just go play 17 more holes real quick and then count it. Hahahaha.

In all honesty, by the rule, I guess it wouldn’t count, but if you make a hole in one there, I think you count it.

But what 17 do you play??? Do you think they give you a free round on Payne valley?

It’s also 136 yards, which is short but long enough for me to credit it (though it won’t win you a boat!)

I mean, there’s nothing in the rules of golf about a hole in one, so I don’t think there is an “official” hole in one at all! As a social concept among golfers, I would certainly say acing this hole counts, not to mention saying “Yep, I got mine on the 19th, the island hole at Payne’s Valley…” is a much cooler HIO story than most others have.

Hey! My bladed 7 iron at age fourteen that happened to go in is a GREAT story…

Though my dad missing my mom’s hole in one (on the same hole) because he was busy making fun of a guy for wearing pink socks on another teebox is a pretty fun story…

It would definitely be a pretty awesome cap to the round at what looks to be an incredible golf course…

Count it!!! It’s a full length golf hole on a real life golf course, right? Counts.

Now, I got in a Twitter…errr…discussion with a gal who got a “hole-in-one” at Top Golf. She was adamant it counts. I said not real golf, sorry, but great swing anyway. It was a whole thing.
