Has anyone found rain gear they actually feel comfortable playing in? I’d love to get a good recommendation for a jacket that I don’t sound like a human cough drop being unwrapped and that I don’t feel like I’m swinging with my arms covered in bubble wrap.
I feel you, brother. I’ve had the hardest time finding rain gear that doesn’t choke my shoulders and mess with my swing. I recently tried on the new FootJoy HyperFlex jacket and took a few swings in it. Felt pretty good. My suggestion, if you’re like me and have wide shoulders and a big chest, size up.
They’re $165, but seem built to last, so the investment feels like less of an investment, especially for good rain gear.
I’ll second the vote for FootJoy HyperFlex. It costs more upfront but will last 10+ years.
I have a FJ Hyperflex, and its good. If you’re committed to playing despite the weather, and especially if you plan a visit to the UK for golf, be sure to get something high quality. There’s not much worse than ineffective rain gear. Oh, it may also be worth it to get a waterproof bucket hat. That’s a relatively small additional cost, but well worth it.
I agree that nothing’s worse than playing in the rain wearing gear that is binding and/or doesn’t keep you dry. I haven’t tried the FJ Hyperflex, but here’s the GolfSpy “best” list for 2020.
Got my first bit of rain this fall today in the sf bay area and wanted to see if there are other recommendations for good rain gear. The FJ Hyperflex sounds awesome but it’s fairly expensive; i know you get what you pay for but I’d love to find a sub-$100 jacket I can shove in the bag and forget about it until the clouds start menacing out on the course.
I have a FJ Hyperlight and it has been great for me so far. I think it has been worth the amount I paid for it.
I picked up a jacket and pants from Ogio. Highly recommend!
I highly recommend Zero Restriction!
Galway Bay has received great reviews - pricey, but I saw an email this morning for a -50% off sale on one of their jackets.
Other than that I’ve been happy with my Adidas Clima-Proof (good quality, good fit, reasonable price).
Anyone have recommendations for Big and Tall rain gear?
