Poulter Yardage Book Notes

Can someone decode the notes poulter has here in his yardage book for number 5 at Augusta?

I know he is cataloging the shots he hit and the effect of wind but not sure the notation? Anybody understand this?

Just figured out that the numbers are

  • yardage to the front
  • yardage to the pin
  • wind + sometimes he writes club and what it carried
  • numbers to the right are pin locations

That’s awesome. Great find.

A friend used to play professionally - typical notes about yardage book (for approach shots)

  • always have numbers to front (then use pin sheet to mark pins based on distance from front)
  • each day including practice rounds marks distance to hole (including slope adj from using range finder during practice round), wind speed/direction, club hit, how far it carried

I play the same course most days… and I take zero notes… seems not so smart.

I have played at my club for 3 seasons now and honestly don’t know the course as well as I should. I did laser some trouble holes and make notes about some yardages and elevation, but not much. I could probably tell you more about what’s behind the bar.

Aint no shame in that…just add a 19th hole to your book!!

I feel this comment, hit me deep. I might need to do some proper homework this spring…

My wife jokes about her short-term memory loss: she only needs two books to read😉. Look at it this way, you get to play a new course every outing on your home course😂.

A bit off topic but my membership is at a course Poulter used to work at. He got a signed flag from Augusta framed for the clubhouse bar. Top guy. As I heard it, the Head pro at the time he worked at the club wouldn’t let him enter comps so he did what any self-respecting person should do and left as soon as he found a club that valued him!
