According to My Golf Spy you might not be using a horrible ball.
Pinnacle Practice did decent in their ball lab, until ya get around green.
I was initially surprised by the results, but then thinking about it deeper, I suppose I shouldn’t have been. The ball lab is all about consistency, so a dead-simple ball produced by Acushnet (Titleist) SHOULD probably perform well. A takeaway for me is that if you happen to being playing regular Pinnacles, then at least you’re probably playing a ball with decent manufacturing quality.
I was actually a bit surprised they had something like 11% with layer concentricity issues. I’ve worked in manufacturing for years and when you make something simple in high volume you should be able to get really great quality. It’s a 2-piece so I would have thought the % would be even lower.
Agreed, 1- Acushnetgolf makes Pinnacles & they aren’t as bad as the rap they get.
the practice balls probably get alot of regrind % from Titleist balls.
B- 11% seems a bit high, but they’re possibly made on older machines.
I’d venture a guess that quality standards are relaxed for practice balls.
And 3- I hope MGS does a test on Titleist range or X OUT balls.
For the record I played Kirkland 3 piece all 2020. Only fault I found with them was covers cut easily. @ 33¢ a ball they’re right up my alley.
I thought the Kirkland 3-piece was decent, but found it noticeably short hitting off the driver for me. I liked the 4-piece better in that regard.
