Personal Ringer Rounds

Over 40 years of playing the game I’ve belonged to 3 different golf clubs in my lifetime where I have played over 250 rounds minimum on each. Do you know your ringer rounds? Meaning, what would your total score if you put your best holes together on that course for that one DREAM ROUND!

Pennsauken Par 70… 2-3-2-3-2-3-2-3-2=22 3-2-3-2-3-2-3-2-2=22 Ringer Round of 44 (1400+ rds)
…Par _____________ 4-4-3-4-4-4-3-5-4=35 4-3-4-4-5-3-4-4-4=35

Westwood Par 71… 3-2-4-3-1-3-3-3-2=24 3-2-3-2-3-3-3-3-2=24 Ringer Round of 48 (340+ rds)
…Par___________ 5-4-5-4-3-4-4-4-3=36 4-3-4-3-4-4-5-4-4=35

Pitman Golf Club Par 70… 2-3-3-2-3-2-3-2-2=22 2-3-3-3-2-3-3-2-2=23 Ringer Round of 45 (532+rds)
…Par________________ 4-4-5-3-4-4-4-3-4=35 4-4-4-4-3-5-4-3-4=35

If only :face_with_hand_over_mouth: :sunglasses: :partying_face: :scream: !!!

I belong to a 9 hole course (par 34). We play it twice to get 18 holes, but I only know my 9 hole ringer round.

Par is 4-3-4-4-4-3-4-4-4

My ringer round: 2-2-2-2-3-1-3-2-2 for 19 (-15)

Well I’ve only been at my club around 9 months, but put a lot of rounds on in that time. I’ve at least birdied every hole, but one par 5 hasn’t been eagled yet (also no aces):

2 - 3 - 3 - 3 - 3 - 4 - 2 - 3 - 2 = 25 (-10)
3 - 2 - 3 - 3 - 3 - 3 - 2 - 3 - 3 = 25 = (-11)
Total = 50 (-21)

Still great playing! If only right?

I’ve been at a 6,412, par 71 muni for close to a decade.
3-3-2-3-4-2-4-4-3=28
3-3-4-3-4-2-3-4-3=29 ->57

IIRC, Pia Nilsson has an approach to set your expectations re top end scoring potential. It’s pretty much the ringer round approach.

On one hand, it’s encouraging to see that I put ridiculous numbers on a card. On the other hand, it’s depressing as f*ck when I currently struggle to get within 25-30 strokes of that.

That’s still an awesome score. At Pennsauken I played 5.5 rounds a week for 41 weeks for 7 years str8…That’s actually 1,578 attempts at each hole. I have 3 holes in one and 1 albatross and none of those were there. BUT watching an 8 iron fly into the on #18 for $150 and a 9 iron spin into the hole for $120von #9. Each of those was 1 time only is something you don’t forget. Golf is a hard game, what is fun about it is that on occasion for a short period of time you can walk the same grounds as Ben Hogan and actually play a hole as well or better than he did…At the height of my powers I was a 2.6 AND I actually know I played better than that on occasion. I thought it would be a fun exercise especially for us mortals to know what IS possible. I mean no way you shoot crazy numbers. But in my preshot…I actually picture what I did on any particular hole with that positive vibe… Try that sometime.Congrats on breaking 60 on that Ringer Round! Here’s another little secret…this is on the mental side and it takes practice and a change in mental process. The game is a series of 1 shot challenges…I’ll leave it at that

Mt Osmond GC is a tight 5357m par 70. I have birdied every hole and holed a 88m wedge on the par 5 18 for eagle so 19 under or 51

Awesome! Imagine one day doing half that! Great playing

Home course Rockwood, 7K tips. Played close to 100 rounds over the past 3-4 years. Ringer round is 48 (-24) with Eagles on all four par 5’s and 2 par 4’s, and birdies on the rest

Great golf! Pretty quick too to get to a -24…It took me over 500 rounds to make a birdie on the 7th hole at Pennsauken…very difficult Par 3. Would we love to make 1/4 of those scores in 18 holes…BUT there are always possibilities…get that elusive ACE there! Good Luck!

I’ve been at my home course Pequabuck for a little over 3 years now. Short par 69 that’s super tight with a lot of OB…and currently some of the thickest rough ever. I’ve birdied every hole at least once and I did eagle the par 4 15th dunking one from about 100 yds. No other eagles and I’m still chasing that elusive ace.

Looks like a Ringer score of 50! -19…Awesome…Great swing thoughts for you there! I’ve had the good fortune of 3 ACES, and 1 Albatross! I hope that Ace comes one day… Don’t do this --> In the past 3 years my playing partner has had the fortune or not so much of dunking 3 balls on 3 of our par 3’s and proceeded to make Par by Holing his next shot after re-teeing…I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing!

I lipped out a few weeks ago on hole #6. It looked like it was going in, but slowly rolled around the hole and sat on the edge. Maybe for the best as it was a tournament and the bar bill would have been pretty large lol. I’ve had a handful of really, really close calls, but no luck yet. The eagle last year was mostly lucky. I punched out under a tree just trying to get it on close to the green and it rolled in. I couldn’t even see it go in lol.

Some skill to get your shots off in the general direction…going in…the hole just happens to be where it stopped right! I did not see 2 of my hole in ones, looking for the ball, playing partner says let me check the hole and there they were, same thing with one of the eagles at Pitman, 5i over trees, I’m searching for my ball, playing partner says what you hit? in the hole. On honeymoon, 1982 in Jamaica… I was as high as a kite completely torched, at Tryall #6 dropped a 2 iron for an Albatross, Caddy screams “shot of gold, mon” I’m like what? “it’s in mon, it’s in!” LOL…OK where’s the next hole…LOL, wanna torch up another spleef? Never saw it until the caddy picked it up out of the hole!
