Online Golf Lessons

I am a big supporter of online lessons. I get them from a professional that lives a thousand miles away from me.
I video tape a couple swings, he sends me a swing review and drills to do in 1-2 days. And I am Cured :star_struck:.
A really good lesson and I have taken lessons from about 20 different professionals over the years. Way less expensive than local professionals in my area and I picked the guy because I saw him give a lesson on YouTube. So I felt confident he could help me.
So what is your experience with Online lessons and would you think of getting one in the future?

I do a combination of online and in person because of my job. I have a coach who I see at home and he is the same coach that I send swing videos to. He does the same, analyzes, breaks down, and gives me drills. Some drills could be as simple as range of motion drills to get my hands to do the proper thing at impact. I am happy with both. I don’t think I have been playing long enough to only survive off of the online only lessons though.

I think online lessons are great for the vast majority of players. It certainly doesn’t take a pro being present to identify my swing flaws.

What advice would you give in finding an online instructor?

knew someone who had an online coach in Georgia… the country

For a Golf YouTube Junkie, like me. Watching a video of a professional giving a lesson and talking about his swing theories. Was a great way.

And then he was very affordable. A lot of famous teachers are online now too, but I can’t afford most of their fees.

I truly think that there is nothing better than real golf instructor with real lessons. I know at least one great website, which provides database of golf players and professionals who can help with golf lessons. Here it is ( url: https://www.grumpygopher.com/ ). I’ve found this resource after some recommendations from my friend.

One of the guys on Chasing Scratch (the podcast that brought me here) is taking online lessons from Adam Young this season… it’s going to be very interesting to see how it goes, as they will be online and we will hopefully see how the process works as he goes through it…

I don’t think there is anything bad about taking lessons online, I think I would prefer in person, but I hate watching myself on video.

I do think with simulators going mainstream. there are going to be more online lessons (as well as remote fittings) as people really hone in on how to use the technology better… It will be interesting to see if Zoom lessons become more of a thing, so coaches can give live feedback during a practice session.

I want to try an online lesson this winter to see how it goes. I don’t have a regular coach right now so it’s a good time to shop around. I did well pushing my handicap down below 5 this year but lowering it further is going to take some hard work.

I’ve used Skillest a couple time and I am happy with the results. When I look at my swing on video, I see a dozen things that don’t look like anything I see on the LPGA. Add to that, I don’t understand which deviation contributes most to my problems or how they are interrelated. The coach I chose, Dan Carraher, identifies the critical few swing faults from the many and gives me drills to correct them. In the end, maybe they will all turn out to be critical but at least he has an order of priority. I feel like I’m making progress.
