MyGolfSpy is a must for equipment decisions

Ha, I found you on accident… I now remember your account… Most of my posts are in the equipment side of things.

I have benefitted from MGS as well.

Concerning the DTC clubs. That’s why I chose Tour Edge. I can play a club or a set of clubs 30 days and if it doesn’t work out send it back for another club or refund.

Its one thing to go in a booth and hit off of a mat but being able to play them on my course in real conditions was priceless to me especially since I was so new to the game and knew very little about equipment.

I like MGS and send them a small donation occasionally. When looking for equipment, I consult their testing but also triangulate their recommendations to what other reviewers or forum members have said. TBH, I bought the Evnroll ER2 putter sight unseen pretty much based on their testing and what others had to say about it.

Having said that, I think most of their data is just random noise. As mpatrickriley noted, the differences between most of the equipment is very small (which is a testament to the competency of the golf equipment industry). I’m sure a club fitter could change the order of these findings for any individual.

My opinion is that most golf equipment is bought based on preference (feel, looks, price) as opposed to performance – given that the performance for most of the stuff tested is so close and not a real differentiator.
