Monday Qualifier Stunt

This has been popping up all over the golf world. Thoughts?

I seem to be one of the few in the golf community who finds this hilarious.

I’m not a violent person, but I want to punch this guy in the face. These are guys trying to get through for a shot to earn a check and perhaps change their lives. Two guys had to play with this clown. There’s no chance you can stay focused with this idiot in your group. Paid entry fee or not, this is ridiculous and this guy deserves all of the hate he’s getting and none of the praise.

Agree, Bigdad. Fck this publicity hack. Guys are trying to earn a foothold in a profession where it is tough to make it unless you are really, really good. For reference, check out the number of players on the PGA development tours. A lot of young guys trying to get established, and this guy treats it as a joke.

I agree. If it was something different I wouldn’t care but playing with that guy with my future on the line would not be cool.

  1. I think it was wrong and against the spirit of the event for this guy to pay $450 for publicity
  2. The rules are set up to allow these sort of shenanigans
  3. I liked the guy a few weeks ago who fixed his divots with his knife.

It sucks for the guys paired with him, but to a certain extent, that’s the luck of the draw.

I’m sure there will be some changes to make this harder, but I do think it ruins the spirit of the Monday qualifier.

I think the KFT is enjoying the publicity, but that’s not at all why this guy did it. It was 100% self-serving. I’m actually bummed guys I enjoy like JJ Killeen - who’s a Monday Q grinder - are singing his praises.

He’s having him on his podcast… might be interesting…

Will be fun to see what they talk about.
