Thanks for all the great recommendations. Started Chasing Scratch this week and I’m through 7 episodes of Season 1. It’s surprising how invested I am in two strangers’ golf games.
Haha, welcome to the madness… I’m six episodes in on season 2 on my relisten. It’s still enjoyable.
Season 2 is where the name craigers comes from.
Not sure if you want to stay in suspense, but they have a you tube series that just started. Gives you a chance to put a face next to a voice.
They certainly suck you in, I binged it all over the last couple months. It’s made me practice more this winter (golf ended in November for upstate NYers) so I’m curious to see how I come out swinging in the spring. If it’s better than usual credit will probably go to mike and Eli (and Adam young / Irish Mike / Dr Jason)
My coach tipped me off to an interesting UK-based podcast focussed more on the mental side of golf; Karl Morris- the Brain Booster. Karl is one of the joint authors of Lost Art of Putting and Lost Art of Golf.
I’ve listened to a couple of episodes and it really resonates.
Here’s a link to an episode (Apple) if anyone is interested.
I’m listening to The Sweet Spot! Gotta say, it’s great. Learning a lot.
Don’t encourage them.
Thanks, glad you are enjoying it so far!
A recent Golfers Journal podcast interview with Paul McGinley is a must listen. Tom Coyne does a great job asking questions about golf , Ryder Cup, Ireland and leadership skills. Check it out.
I’ll have to find that one! I cherry pick those, the one he did on “The Sober League” is also a must listen. Gets into the relationship between golf and alcohol
Just want to say thank you to all of you who have recommended Chasing Scratch. I just started season one today and made it through the first episode on my drive home. I think it’s going to be a fun listen to how two guys approach improving at the game, plus there have been a couple of funny moments.
My cousin recommended that podcast… I’ll have to check it out…
And kudos to you, Sir Chunksalot. It’s a fun listen, and it stays fun… It’s also amazing the people they talk to along the way… Jon even gets a shout out at some point (they talk about him and Adam on the Golf Science Lab podcast). I’ve spent money on Adam’s book, Irish Mike’s fitness program, Sieckmann’s book…
It’s definitely an enjoyable listen. I’m cracking up over the fact you can hear optimism when they speak and it’s seasoned with a little “What are we getting in to?”. I’m spending a lot of time during these cooler, wetter months committing myself to improvement in approach play, and I feel their pain.
As far as books go, I’ve been considering Adam’s practice manual as I’ve heard nothing but good things about it.
It’s really good, but REALLY dense… I like to consider myself a golf geek and I’m only like 4 chapters in and have had it for months…
It’s also only in hard copy, which makes it harder for me to read when I put my daughter to bed…
The fact that I play Slay the Spire instead of reading the OTHER book I’m reading right now (Atomic Habits) is a different conversation.
Jon, I listen to you and Adam at The Sweet Spot. It’s a good listen for me and covers topics that interest me and will likely benefit my game. It’s also presented well with the right amount of wonk mixed with anecdotal stuff. I really only listen to 3-4 podcasts and this is the only golf one. Thanks for the link to Golf Science Lab. The snow will be melting (soon) in Buffalo, so I better get my golf game face on.
That’s awesome, thanks for letting us know! I’ll be sure to share the feedback with my co-host
I’ve loved listening to hack it out and Jon and Adam’s sweet spot. Both very interesting, funny and informative. Got me through the last 3 months of lockdown.
thanks for listening, glad we could provide some entertainment during the lockdown!
Both have made me consider my game more ready for Monday!
