Full Swing KIT Review: Can It Compete With The Big Boys?

Okay, so the Full Swing KIT launch monitor showed up on the scene with a lot of fanfare, mainly because Tiger Woods backed it. For a device costing $4,999, you want something good, and this thing seems to deliver. Right out of the box, the design is slick. It’s not just some ugly piece of tech; the full-color OLED screen and modern look give it some style.

What I liked was how easy it was to set up. Some high-end launch monitors make setup feel like a puzzle, but the Full Swing KIT is smooth. Download the app, follow a few steps, and you’re connected. The built-in camera helps with alignment, so you know you’re set up correctly. The whole thing feels polished and simple from the start.

Once you’re rolling, the data starts flowing. The Full Swing KIT uses Doppler radar, so it sits a few feet behind the ball and reads everything from launch angle and spin rate to ball speed and club path. It tracks the entire flight of the ball, unlike some cheaper radar monitors. The data feels accurate, especially with carry distance, spin rate, and total distance, even compared to fancier Trackman systems.

The OLED screen is great but can be a problem. It’s sharp and customizable, which makes the KIT feel high-end. But in bright sunlight, glare can become an issue. It’s not a deal-breaker but something to remember if you plan to use it outside a lot. The Apple Watch thing is cool; you can check your stats from your wrist without grabbing your phone or tablet. It feels fresh and makes the device more helpful at the range.

The Full Swing app is good, but if you want a super detailed breakdown of your swing, it’s a bit basic. It looks nice and it’s easy to use, but some stuff requires more scrolling than I’d like. Still, it works well for what it’s made for: giving you the important numbers quickly and correctly. It measures carry distance, spin axis, face angle, launch angle, ball speed, and club path, which is more than enough for most golfers wanting to get better.

Video capture is another plus. The built-in camera lets you replay your swing in 4K and slow it down to see what you did right or wrong. It makes practice sessions more useful, especially when trying to fix your swing. The camera angle can be tricky, however. If the device is too close, the camera will cut off your swing, especially with longer clubs.

Simulator performance is so-so. The KIT comes with a 5-course mobile license for E6 Connect, but it’s pretty basic. The device can’t detect putting within E6, which sucks if you want a full simulator experience. Full Swing says it will work with other software, which could change things.

I was really impressed with how well the KIT tracks numbers outside. Some devices only work well indoors, but the KIT works great on the range. The data feels right, even compared to more expensive systems. It’s not the most advanced launch monitor, but it does an awesome job giving reliable performance, especially since it’s more portable than most high-end systems.

The KIT’s Premium Membership is pretty cheap at $99 a year. This gives you unlimited video storage and lets you look at old data from your sessions. You don’t need it to enjoy the KIT, but it’s nice if you’re trying to track your improvement. If you pay $5,000 for a launch monitor, $100 a year to save your swings isn’t that bad.

The obvious downside is the price. Also, if you expect simulator features right away, you might be let down. The KIT’s simulator thing seems like an afterthought, and while stuff like the Apple Watch is cool, it doesn’t change the fact that you’ll need other software if you really want the full simulator experience.

All that said, the Full Swing KIT does what it needs to do very well. It’s easy to use, correct, and it looks cool while doing it. If you want a simple launch monitor that sets up fast, this is a great option. It’s not perfect, but it delivers where it counts.

Should you buy the Full Swing KIT? Yes, just know what you’re getting. If you want something mostly for simulator use, get other software. But if you want a really accurate, portable, and stylish launch monitor that gives you good data without the fuss, the Full Swing KIT should be high on your list.
