"Flatball" practice

I just got a practice tool, flatballs.
They are a segment of a sphere and helps perfect your ball contact. I tried using them… interesting!!
Anyone try these?
What is your routine to practice with them?

I have them as well. I like using them for chipping practice. If you place it on top of a small mat or piece of carpet, then you really have to control the low point in order to pick the “ball” airborne but not move the mat.

I’ve tried them… I don’t love them, honestly.

I don’t understand their purpose.

I also have them, I use them on occasion but am also not too crazy about them. I was hoping they would help me get over my obsession with the ball. Not so lucky.

I haven’t been able to hit one,off my golf mat, well enough to fly end over end. I think they require a more precise strike than I can currently produce.

Are they supposed to fly end over end? I get them to fly like a frisbee. :flushed:

Nothing I see about them suggests they should have a predictable or desirable flight, the goal is just to get a solid strike.

How do you know what is solid though? If it elevates and moves forward?

Pretty much. You can get a bit from the direction as well, but really it’s all about not hitting thin.

I have a set of these as well. @Adamyounggolf recommends guitar picks, but I’m not quite at that level yet. I find them useful for low point control practice. As an added bonus: they’re made of a soft rubber that often leaves a faint imprint on your iron face. It’s easy to see if your contact was centered, or off on the heel or toe.
