Finding a coach?

Does anyone have any tips on finding a coach to take lessons from? Is there a, uh, Yelp for golf lessons? Just trying to get a sense of where I should start my search. Also, if anyone has any recommendations in the LA area, I’m all ears.

You could start with the Best Teachers lists that Golf and Golf Digest publish.

I know we have some la area members… @Fit_For_Golf mike, who are you using?

I would find some low handicappers and ask who is good in the area

I think having some really good junior / high-school students is a good sign as well.

Many private clubs will allow you to take lessons at the club as long as you have a member sponsor / vouch

Alison Curdt. LPGA pro and PGA teaching pro. She’s based in Wood Ranch Simi Valley. I think she does work in the LA area too.

You can most definitely check yelp for golf instructors or Google for ones in your area. Can also consider if you want lessons at a range or indoor launch monitor work (or somewhere in between). I’d say the best advice is to get a few names together, call them up and have a conversation about where you are and what you want from the game. Pay for an initial analysis first and then see if you click with them.
Fellow Angelino here, so welcome!

Was gonna say something similar - soooo important to have someone who is an effective communicator … in a manner that you understand!
