Best public courses you've played under $100

At the right time of year, some of the Pinehurst area courses are bargains. I know I’ve played Mid Pines for $80, Tobacco Road about the same, Southern Pines GC for $50 or a little less.

Thank you; didnt think it was that far but if I’m flying all the way there I can’t not do it…

Yeah, keep in touch if you want. I am off for a week at a time and then working out of state for a week at a time. If your trip falls on me week off, you’ve got a playing partner and clubs if you want. You can email me [email protected]

Really appreciate that; now to work on clearance from the long haired general

I’ll set her up with mine, they can have a spa day!

Wolf Creek is a great course. Played there ages ago and hope to make it back.

Torrey for $35?!? I would call that a value. Whenever I check, you can add at least a 1 to the front of that price. I’m not a resident though.

That was 15 years ago and for San Diego residents only… I did not take proper advantage.

Best is always subjective. Here are some public’s under $100 that I enjoyed.

Rustic Canyon (CA)
Goat Hill (CA) - don’t hate
Champions Pointe (IN)
Chariot Run (IN)
Sweetens Cove (TN)
Sevierville River Course (TN)
Ross French Lick (IN)
The Fort (IN)
Purgatory (IN)
Kampen Boilermaker (IN)

Was supposed to play Champions Pointe yesterday but got rained out. And Chariot Run had a pro am. I’ll be back to try them out for sure. I enjoyed Covered Bridge, the other Fuzzy course, last week. How much better is Champions Pointe?

If you find your way into Michigan I can help you find some courses under $100 worth playing. I guess we are pretty fortunate here because so many fine courses are $60-$80 for a round.

Here’s a quick list, I’m sure I’ll leave some out.
Mid MI
Hawk Hallow
Eagle Eye
The Grande
Forest Akers West (MSU)

West
Angels Crossing
Bedford Valley

Northern Lower Peninsula
Eldorado
Belvedere (pricey but worth it for the history)
Almost anything in Gaylord

Watching Americans discuss green fees always gives me the chills. We are so lucky in Australia to have so many top quality courses available for play at really good pricing.

Oh man, this question is right up my alley!

  1. Lawsonia Links can be had for under $100 during the week and at Twilight.
  2. Spirit Hollow in Burlington, IA is super under the radar and a steal at under $100.
  3. The Quarry and the Legend at Giant’s Ridge will run you $160 for a 36 hole day…but you’re getting both courses for that and lunch.

Those are my favorite value plays in the upper midwest.

My range is limited, but Sky Mountain in southern Utah is tough to beat for a muni.
