Best Handicap App

I use to be a major fan of GolfShot but recently moved to thr Grint.

The amount of information you get and the accuracy of the GPS are superb.

What apps are you using? Plus’s and minus’s

Before I got my Garmin watch (which I highly recommend), I was an 18birdies user. I found their tracking and GPS to be the best option out there. The AI coach is an interesting, but far from perfect feature IMO and the social community aspects weren’t that great.

Hole19 is a good GPS app. For handicap, I use GHIN.com

I use GHIN app for handicap, and in the last few rounds started entering stats. For GPS, I’m a fan of 18 birdies. I also like 18birdies for checking out a new course and determining strategy before I play.

Before having GPS or knowing my carry distance, there were probably a few more tee shots I would lay back on, but having an app and knowing the cover distance of bunkers or hazards has increased my confidence to Send It where it may not seem practical from the tee box view.

GHIN app baby!

I take caddy notes in a journal after my rounds for my “stats”

Used to use mScorecard app, which I liked because if you accessed through the website, you could map your own course, and select any random tree or point for a yardage. Then when you use the app on your phone while playing, you’d know exactly how far to clear that tree you marked.

Now that I’ve got a Garmin watch, I use that for my yardages and stats, but still use mScorecard to keep my (unofficial) handicap.

Which Garmin watch did you get? If you can add the CT10 sensors, I highly recommend it.

I have the S20. It’s does all the basic things well and a lot easier than constantly messing with your phone during a round.

I really like the sensors keeping distance and dispersion stats for me. Very useful in knowing where I need to improve. For example, before I started using the Shot Scope V3, I didn’t realize I had a real problem with 10-20 foot putts. All I ever practiced was lag putts and inside of 6 feet. Now, I’m working on the mid-length putts as well. And the only time I touch my watch during a round is once at each hole so it knows how long my putts were.

I use grunt for GPS yardage and scoring. They link to my GHIN for handicap. Works well for me!

I have a Garmin S20 watch, Bushnell binoculars and I also use Golf Pad GPS (since 2016) .On the course, I usually glance at the watch for front, back and center yardages. It’s simple. The watch yardage may be sufficient but if I use the binoculars, the watch helps confirms the yardage from the binoculars. Golf Pad also provides yardages but it’s a bit cumbersome since the app is on my phone and I don’t want to be digging in my pocket for yardage on every shot. That said, Golf Pad does gives me a real time overhead view of the hole that is extremely useful on an unfamiliar course. I’ve been fortunate to play in a lot of different places in the U.S., Europe and Mexico and it charts all the courses I’ve play. I also use Golf Pad to keep my score (score, putts, fairways, GIR, sand traps) and it offers other bells and whistles but I don’t take advantage of them. Golf Pad is responsive. They updated their data when I once complained! If you’re shopping be sure to look at the layout on the screen and how you enter the scores. I tried a couple of other apps (can’t remember what they were) but I found Golf Pad’s approach to be quick and simple. I found the comments from Wasa about Shot Scope and putting interesting. I’m thinking more about trying some sensors.

I’ve got the S62 and really enjoy it… bought the three pack of sensors, but have a counter balanced putter with a weight in it… going to have to shave it down and superglue it in, which i’m not excited to do…

Welcome to the forums! I also have an S20 and do really like it. For a month or so, I’ve been playing with Arccos sensors for an upcoming review and there are a lot of good things about them, but a few negatives as well. Still undecided if I’ll stick with them or go back to my Garmin.

I’ve been using Arccos ever since I started playing. Considering trying ShotScope for 2021 though.

I’m also subscribed to Golfshot, but have never gotten around to really using it.
