For me it is course dependent. I am at sea level here in coastal SC so the ball doesn’t fly far through the air and a lot of the courses don’t drain well. That being said I stay around 6500-6700 around here. When I travel, the ball goes further pretty much everywhere so I try to look for 6700-7000, especially if I know it is a firm golf course where the ball rolls out. If I am playing a known to be very difficult course, I move up as far as I can without embarrassing myself because I want to have fun.
