I saw a hot-take on Twitter the other day that you shouldn’t be allowed to mount/frame your hole in 1 ball unless you finish your round with it.
I played an extra 3 holes with mine and nearly lost it twice before storing it safely away!

I hit my next tee shot with mine and realized halfway into my backswing. Couldn’t stop and almost hooked it into a pond.

I have feared that result on a holed out "mulligan… but it has never happened!

I have a holed out par from 186 one time. I drove into the rough, hit my second shot from 186 out of bounds, dropped one and hit it in with a 6 iron. Just had to laugh!
As mentioned in my Advice for Competitive Golf thread, here was my tee shot on the 16th, 140yd downhill pitching wedge:
Definitely the highlight of the not so great round.

I wouldn’t be mad at it.
Had an emotional moment today in a Stableford comp. 9th. Par 3. 130 yds. I couldn’t see the base of the pin as it was tucked just behind a greenside bunker.
Thinned my shot off the tee. It went straight towards the flag, ran up and over the shoulder of the green. I thought, wow got away with that one.
Guy to my left - he has a clear view of the pin - starts screaming. It’s in. It’s in! I start jumping around and screaming before he says, oh it lipped out. Then I saw my ball 6-7’ left of the flag and told him he’d saved me about £300!

I’m not one to act out of anger, but not sure what would happen if the guy did that to me and was within a club length

@CoryO It was a funny one. Out of our 4 ball, only 1 guy, who stood to the left of the tee box markers could see the base of the pin. I thinned my shot so the ball was travelling. Chances are it hit the pin and bounced off, which is a more likely scenario these days with the new ‘COVID’ ball retrievers in the cups.
I didn’t mind. Those moments of possible glory picked me up after a careless 3 putt on the 8th 
It certainly gave me back some of my Sean Connery swagger walking up to the green.

I dont drink but i was with my buddies playing a scramble drunk by hole 5. Wham 175y 5 iron. Never saw it but everyone else did !!!

I had my first ace 4 years ago March 11, this March 11 I flagged one that landed about an inch from the same hole, hit the flag stick, and bounced just past the hole. How wild would that have been to have another one on the same hole on the anniversary!

In a round a few years ago with BILs, I got my 1st (and only) ace. It was 200 yd 16th hole and we were ready to wrap up a foggy, misty round. Absolutely flushed an Apex II 2-iron toward green. Fog concealed ball flight. We approached green and didn’t see ball. We did see tracks on wet green going from impact to hole. Bummer that I didn’t actually see it drop, but an ace is an ace.

I’ll start with Heartbreak…1997, 35th hole, of a 36 hole medal play club event for all the marbles…4 shot lead in club championship, all year long i would play onto the 16th fairway with a driver from the 17th tee, leaving me maybe 8i in. But,Not that shot, not this day. I was reading a book by Jack Nicklaus, I don’t know why, change of plan, decided to try and pump an iron down a fairway that I struggle to hit, hence why i would take all trouble out of play and bust one onto the 16th. So go ahead MJ, take some stupid book advice from Mr Nicklaus, what could possibly go wrong?.. What happens?..Yup yanked a 3i into the woods marked as a hazard, Found the ball in a clean lie in the hazard!! Went against my rule and tried the hero shot…Hit a low hanging branch and goes into an unplayable lie, Dropped 3 in the hazard, Played 4th shot into fairway, 5 on, 3 putt,snowman…lost lead. Come in par on 18 and into the playoff with my best bud. Par 5 I smoke a driver, he bunts one out there, his second to 115, I hit 6 iron on front of a severely uphill green in 2. He shanks his 9i 35 yds right of green, now for his 4th swipe at what he told me he feels now is pure futility…He tops a wedge through ruff and tall grass travelling what to me looked like 200 miles an hour, hits the stick and he jars it for Bird! I putt to 4ft, I forget to check my line and I missed an old ball mark…I rolled the birdie putt, hit the mark…hit the edge of the hole, 180* spin out!..Lost the club championship! 2 years later, I’m 4 shots off the lead after 27 to my other bud…long story short…he shot a smooth 37 back 9 and figures it’s over hoist the trophy!..he comes into the clubhouse and we’re all hanging at the bar…he says I see we’re starting early on my coronation…My other bud goes really, you think you won…yeah he goes! I shot 37…oh really…that’s nice, MJ was on fire…how much could he be on fire, he would have to come in with a 32 to beat me, so what’d he come in with 34 or 35? Yea that’s why we’re drinking he shot 31 back…never saw anything like it!..lol. The “thrill of victory and the agony of defeat”! Both Kenny and Albert have since passed away, both on the the course…I guess that says it all right?
My one and only ace came 2 years ago in my best golfing day ever. My normal playing partner was on holiday so I joined the group who play after us. Big board comp better ball medal. We had a great round with me paring the last three holes to finish 10 under and so in with a great shout. We did actually win and so my first board comp.
In the afternoon my daughter has junior training so me and some of the other dads play nine holes. Our par 3 7th, 150 yards, struck a great 9 iron to a front pin. As it came down it was a little right of the pin. Caught the left mound of the right hand bunker kicking it slightly left and rolled straight up and in. Everyone going mad and me just stood in shock.
Daughter then won player of the day. If carlsberg did hold days!

I’ve been lucky enough to have 2.
The 1st one was 4 years ago in December from forward tees, so it was not recogized as an official hole in one by the course I was playing. It was a sand wedge from 90 yards that was well struck and landed 6 feet short of the hole. It was a beautiful sight and even though it wasn’t “official” we sure celebrated like it was.
The 2nd one was last year. I thinned a 6 iron from 160 yards that I thought for sure was going in the bunker that guarded the green. It cleared the bunker, but the bunker blocked the view of the hole so we couldn’t see it. I thought for sure it would be behind the green, but when I couldn’t find it I walked across the green to see if it plugged in the bank in front. I glanced at the hole as I passed it and BINGO!
Fun fact, the 1st one was on my exes birthday and the last one was on my wifes birthday!
I have 3 Ace’s. 1994, 5th at Valleybrook 182/7i didn’t see it go in. 1996, 14th at Freeway (course is closed) 224/3i didn’t see it go in, 1997 5th at Westwood 128/PW finally…saw one and it spun in! Here’s something interesting for you all. One of the guys in my group does not have an ACE, however, last year, he rinsed his teeball on both #8 and #17 and re-teed. Aced them both for couple of unreal PARS!
First one was 12 years ago at a course outside of DC. It’s replicas of famous holes: Amen Corner, the Church Pews, all from major championships except one. The Island Green.
A crappy day in October, cloudy, breezy, cold. Crappy golf to match; I had nothing, and was playing with a friend’s ‘set’ on top of it. Expectations were off-the-charts low; any dry ball was a good ball.
Pin was back left, and I certainly wasn’t pinhunting. Flushed my 9i, a tiny draw. My buddy says “go, go”; I say no, it’s got enough.
Ball hits and takes what looks like a funny hop. We can’t see the bottom of the stick, but I turn away thinking I’ve got a birdie putt - when the next tee box goes crazy!
Sure enough, it’s at the bottom of the cup. I can only figure that ‘funny hop’ was it hitting the stick and dropping in.
We were the last group of the day, so my bar tab was minimal. Not so fortunate last year for my second; midday at my home course, and a full bar. At least I got to watch that one go in…

I saw on Twitter our guy @Golfer_Jake_78 got his first hole-in-one today. Huge congrats, my man. When the world stops spinning pop by and tell us the tale!!
