One of my buddies tries to ‘steer’ the ball. Sprays it everywhere (Ok, I’ve done that countless times!) On our ‘cow pasture’ fairway, he takes a full swing, nails the center every time.
I say “We don’t have the skill to learn that many different swings; just grip it & rip it. One swing!”

Just to blend this in with some Mental Game thinking (golf is all one big puzzle?!) - I now have Swing for the Fences as a mental prompt on my scorecard

Same- all my carefully considered tee shots typically go wild or I top them. When I DON’T spend any time standing over the ball, get my back to the target and just let it rip, I drive straighter and farther.
Danged coach, I hate it when he’s right!!
