Golf Trip Group Games

Hey folks,

I’m leading a much anticipated golf trip with 7 of my brothers and buddies to Pinehurst in June and I’d love to hear ideas for games to play with the group. I’m sure there will be some standard best ball nassau games within foursomes but definitely want to keep other games in mind to keep people engaged throughout. We’ll have handicaps ranging from 3-20. As of now I’m thinking the nassau matches and maybe doing group or individual quota games.

What other kinds of games are fun to play with groups of varying level to keep everyone in the mix?

That sounds like an awesome trip! I really hope I can do a “golf buddies” vacation some day soon. My suggestion is actually for something to do off the course itself. Assuming you have one evening of dinner/drinks at the course, try a putting contest on the practice green. Use some tees to set up “holes” (where going outside the boundaries is OB) and then keep score. Add some stakes to it with a buy-in and any other rules/restrictions you’d like to set (one hole requiring putting opposite handed for instance). Fun and relatively even across skill levels.

Bingo, Bango, Bongo
The first player in the group to get the ball on the green gets a point (bingo).
The player whose ball is closest to the pin once all balls are on the green gets a point (bango).
The player in the group who is first to hole out gets a point (bongo).

Great idea, and Pinehurst has an amazing putting course modeled after the Himalayas at St Andrews. What was once a generally flat practice green is now full of mounds and valleys and slopes. Its called the Thistle Dhu, right outside a small bar in the main clubhouse. There are cupholders at each tee for your beverages.

I think net skins pot is great. Throw $20 bucks in each round and see if you can win a hole outright.

Some people like to do apps, but I think half the fun is going through each hole after the round.
