But, re: basketball - standing on the free throw line is not unlike standing on the pitcher’s mound, or … standing over your golf ball…

Great point about golf not being a reactive game. I hadn’t thought about that but it explains why your mind so often gets in the way of good performance.
I like David MacKenzie’s material on the mental game - Golf State of Mind. Really opened up my thinking on this vast area of the game I’d had very little exposure to previously.
There’s a quote from one of the classic players who says they focus on the target, even over the ball like they’ve got a camera aimed out their left ear. I like those kind of analogies.
I’m also a big fan … lots of really useful and informative articles on his site … an excellent complement to Practical Golf!!
