Fall Masters 2020

The Masters being held in the fall, without fans should make for an interesting week.

What are you most looking forward to with this Fall version of the Masters? Will there be any advantages to certain styles of play this time of year and with no fans?

I’m assuming the conditions will be a little quicker as the grass will be nearing its hibernation point, unless they over-seeded with a winter style grass. Cooler temperatures ball flight/spin will be effected but I’m sure Bryson has that formula figured out. Not to mention they’re all good enough to know this prior to the start of play. However, the possibility of wind and cooler temperatures affecting the overall game should be like that of a Pebble Beach or UK style play. Should be a lot of fun to see the elements make a difference for such a great tournament.

I’m really looking forward to it. I’m wondering how much the temperature comes into play though. Hoping they don’t get unseasonably cold weather. Either way, it will be cool to see Augusta in 2020 since that didn’t seem like it was going to happen for a while!

Those are all great points. I am really excited to see the difference. Also not complaining that we gets two Masters tournaments in a row!

I am excited for the audio. Would love to have the crowd noise, but it will be interesting to hear conversation between player and caddy.

I don’t know if y’all watched the US amateur but the long sequences of Bandon Dunes with the caddy / player discussion (plus some coast line asmr) was great.

I am thinking the masters could be similar if it turns into a 2 or 3 horse race on Sunday

I agree with most of those but for me it’s the Masters theme song. It puts you in such a cozy place.

I wonder how different the conditions will be. They can retry much control everything at Augusta. Remember when they put ice around the flowers one year to prevent them from blooming before the tournament.

After the US Open I’m very curious to see what Bryson can do. If his wedges are on he’s unbeatable at this point with the distance off the tee and reliable putter

Also I think it’s the only major Tiger can contend in anymore. Give me all the tiger at Augusta we can get

Can’t wait for the fall Masters. Excited to see how the course changes that time of year, the pros dealing with the colder temps. Then we hopefully get another Masters a few months later!

I’m assuming they’ll have to have overseeded by then given the Bermuda is probably close to going dormant by that point and they’re going to want it as green as possible not taking any chances.

Any idea what type of grass they overseed with?

Advantages… no, can’t build off the excitement like usual… just hope they’re planning on Bryson showing up…

It’s Rye.

Here’s a golf digest article that just came out talking about some of the potential differences between November and April in course conditions. Softer fairways I would assume to be the case since the whole property doesn’t have sub-air and considering the growing rye plus some rain in the forecast.

It would be interesting to see the pros playing a long Augusta. Maybe we can go back to the 60’s and 70’s when it took mid to long irons to reach many of the par fours.

I fore (see what I did there) one can’t wait until the Masters. This week has been depressing!

I’m just looking forward to having a 2020 Masters. The Augusta Theme music, “Hello Friends” from Nantz, back 9 rallies and someone slipping on the green jacket. It’ll be different for sure but I’m grateful we have it!

It honestly might be the highlight of watching football on Sundays, when CBS slips in a masters commercial and my golf fan side takes over for the next few minutes daydreaming about this awesome fall version

Anyone have any suggestions on how best to pick players for a Masters pool? I’m tired of finishing in the middle…

What about using a dartboard?

No idea, but I’m looking at Rahm. He’s been playing well, playing smarter. I know Bryson is slaying distances, but it’s not everything. He’s a head player, a couple of errant shots can get the better of him.

I’d love to see Tiger win one more. Given his back issues, it would likely be his last.
