All Day Golfathon!

This Friday I’m doing something I’ve always wanted to do, but never done. I’ll be playing golf all day from dawn to dusk (approx 7 am to 7 pm), as many holes as possible, to raise money for the First Tee Fort Worth. The weather looks to be calm, starting at around 40 and getting up to around 60 at the peak of the day, so I’ll have layers, and I’m expecting to get at least 81 holes, maybe 90. Please feel free to contribute if you feel inclined.

Has Anyone else ever done an all day golf event like this? Any Pro Tips?

Absolutely! Not sure if It’ll be walk or riding, but assuming riding to get maximum holes in. May try to mix up the tees a bit and play a round on each set, or maybe one round with 5 club challenge, or maybe a few holes with a kids club. I’m expecting 10-15 birdies, 1-3 eagles, and hoping for less than 5 doubles and less than 10 3 putts. Guessing my 2nd round will be my best because i’ll be warm but not too worn out yet, then will be hanging on for dear life down the stretch.

The most I ever played in one day was 45 holes. I was fine at age 30. I rarely exceed 18 now in my fifties.

I did this in high school back in the 1980’s with a high school team mate and two club pros that were local to our town and I remember it fondly. I remember both scrambling around in power carts to get 9 holes done in 30min (which was our goal) and feeling the growing angst when my pro partner and i were $45 down at one point midday and i didn’t know if i had the scratch to pay it off at the end of the day.

If you aren’t all following along, he’s finished 72 holes so far. He has about 5 hours of daylight left to get to his goal of 108 for the day.

Twas a lot of fun today. 126 holes. 7 rounds. Will be reflecting on it the next few days
